Chanting the Magnificat

If you’ve been wondering how to chant the Magnificat in Latin (whether it be for the Divine Office, or the Catena, etc…), this is for you! Plus… The organ playing is just beautiful! Enjoy!

*For those who attended Latin Level II, the text here is different from the one we sang on Saturday. The one in the hymn booklet is the old latin translation. This one here is the new official translation for the Divine Office.

Magníficat *
ánima mea Dóminum,
et exsultávit spíritus meus *
in Deo salvatóre meo,
quia respéxit humilitátem ancíllæ suæ. *
dispérsit supérbos mente cordis sui;
depósuit poténtes de sede *
et exaltávit húmiles.
Esuriéntes implévit bonis *
et dívites dimísit inánes.
Suscépit Ísrael púerum suum, *
recordátus misericórdiæ,
sicut locútus est ad patres nostros, *
Ábraham et sémini eius in sæcula.
Glória Patri et Fílio *
et Spirítui Sancto.
Sicut erat in princípio, et nunc et semper *
et in sǽcula sæculórum. Amen.
