A Little Known Papal Document!

Here’s an interesting article! As you all know, Bl. Pope John XXIII was the Pope who called for Vatican II in 1962. In that very same year, he wrote a papl document – an apostolic constitution – entitled, Veterum Sapientia.

It’s on the PROMOTION OF THE STUDY OF LATIN!

You can read it in english here: http://www.adoremus.org/VeterumSapientia.html

Here’s the article in Latin: http://www.vatican.va/holy_father/john_xxiii/apost_constitutions/1962/documents/hf_j-xxiii_apc_19620222_veterum-sapientia_lt.html

What you could do would be to print both english and latin out and read them side by side. That should help you to grow your vocabulary. Try to recognise the declensions and their cases as you go about reading it too!
